Edwin Levy was a long time professor of theatre at the University of Denver where he directed 89 plays and 11 operas during his tenure there. He also directed the world premiere of the "Ballad of Baby Doe" in Central City and in the 1950s, he directed the popular Denver Post Operas in Cheesman Park for 11 seasons. He also directed at the Bonfils Theatre for the 1964-65 season. Ed Levy also directed 16 concert operas in New York's Lincoln Center. Of special note: He wrote his Ph.D. dissertation on the history of Denver's Elitch Theater. Listed in the Who's Who in the American Theatre he was also the recipient of the 1970 Larry Tajiri Award for the Performing Arts. He died at the age of 73 in 1990.
