Colorado’s beautiful mountain landscapes have been home to many theater companies and programs over the years. Some have been known for their summer repertory productions; others run year-round. Some of the mountain theaters currently or previously in Colorado:
- Breckenridge Backstage Theatre – operating year-round
- The Chief Theater – in Steamboat Springs, closed 2021 for renovations
- Creede Repertory Theatre
- The Crystal Palace – in Aspen, presented dinner theater for 5 decades and closed in 2008
- Lake Dillon Theatre Company – in Silverthorne, operating year-round
- Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp – established in 1913 in Steamboat Springs and still continues today
- The Rialto Theater Center in Loveland
- Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre – in Grand Lake, primarily summer programming
- Strater Hotel – In Durango, presented melodrama and vaudeville since the early 1960s. Primarily music performances now
- Theatre Aspen
- The Vail Valley Theatre Company
- Vilar Performing Arts Center – in Beaver Creek, mainly concerts and dance performances
- Steamboat Community Players
- The Union Colony Civic Center – built in Greeley in 1988, concerts and touring theatre productions
- Wheeler Opera House in Aspen
